Angie Li

Tissue Culture and Plant Transformation Research Technician, Seed and Developmental Biology

Phone: 1-306-966-3719

Angie joined GIFS in December 2015 after working in various cities across western Canada including Victoria, BC at NRCan, Vancouver at UBC Forestry, and in Lethbridge at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) Research Centre.

Angie became interested in apomictic research after experiencing first-hand the labour-intensive process that is required in creating doubled haploid crops. At the AAFC Research Centre, this involved sitting every day in a growth chamber emasculating, pollinating, and harvesting wheat heads and also screening seedlings for resistance genes.

At GIFS, Angie is responsible for the development of tissue culture and transformation protocols on the North-American model plant Boechera.

Outside of work, Angie enjoys rock climbing, aerial silks, and slacklining. Some of her more normal hobbies include crocheting, archery, and hiking.
